About the event
For New and Experienced Community Organizers!
MASCP is sponsoring the free workshop, "The Essential Role of Community Organizing in National Change." Leaders of the workshop will be two Salvadoran community organizers, Cintia Gonzalez and Zulma Tobar — veterans of the struggle to ban metallic mining town by town, region by region until El Salvador banned metallic mining nationwide, declaring it too dangerous for their fragile environment and water resources.
Cintia and Zulma will facilitate the workshop using "popular education" — an active learning process that raises social awareness, stimulates critical and creative thinking, and has been a critical part of community organizing and social change.
Dinner included. No charge. New and experienced organizers are encouraged to come and learn together!
